Pretty in Pink

Emily went with a friend to a party in Logan, Brisbane, where she met Guy.  From that night on they were friends then started dating and married recently.

Guy proposed to Emily in August 2010 when they were having a romantic week away, just the two of them.  Guy gave Emily breakfast in bed, and then got down on one knee and proposed.  What a great way to start their day!!

Our couple married and honeymooned on the Gold Coast at Palm Beach.  Five nights without children, eating out, movies, and just enjoying their time together.

Valentine’s Day Wedding Proposal

Here is the story of our recent couple, Sean and Emma.  Elope to the Coast were extremely proud to organise their whole wedding!

They met at their local gold club in 2010. They were introduced by some mutual friends. Over the next few weeks thet decided they wanted to be together and well, they have been, ever since!

Sean took Emma to the park where they had decided they wanted to be boyfriend and girlfriend.  Close by there is a gazebo.  On Valentines Day 2014,  Sean took Emma to the same park, got down on one knee with a box in hand and said ‘Emma, will you be Mrs Cunningham?’ Emma giggled and said “YES”!!

Emma and Sean got married and had their honeymoon at the same time. It was wonderful – they had amazing dinners, a few drinks to celebrate and explored around Palm Beach and Surfers Paradise.

Emma’s Tip: I would give for future brides is, “You don’t have to have an over the top extravagant wedding to have an amazing day. Our eloping was just us 2. It was intimate and no dramas at all!”

We are pleased to advise that Ray Lawler was our wedding photographer (another professional job, yet again).

10th Anniversary Wedding

Ben and Rebekka met 10 years ago in Port Macquarie. They were introduced to each other by Rebekka’s sister, who knew Ben through his house mate.

Ben proposed a few times, but there was no ring… lol! When he could afford a ring, he proposed in their loungeroom one Saturday night while they were watching Harry Potter!

They had their “weddingmoon” on the Gold Coast when they got married last week, but they are planning on having their real honeymoon in Fiji at the end of the year when Rebekka’s best friend gets married there.

Rebekka found Elope to the Coast‘s on the internet and decided to get married on their 10th anniversary. They thought it would be perfect to allow someone else plan their wedding for them and they were from interstate. Rebekka said “We couldn’t of asked for an easier wedding planning process. After we chose our date & package, it was all planned for us! we had the most amazing weather & the wedding photos are fantastic (www.ray-lawler.com.au)! The restaurant that was recommended to us was sensational, loved the meal! nothing was a problem for the team & they were more than accommodating to our needs & wishes! we couldn’t of asked for a better day! thanks guys!”

Perfect Match

When Pauline and Wayne met, it was love at first sight!  They met in a nightclub, exchanged mobile numbers, and got to know each other over a long lunch.  They were mesmerized by each other, and this attraction still remains.

Wayne proposed to Pauline at Botany Bay whilst enjoying a picnic on a Sunday afternoon.

They thought about who to invite, and other issues and it all got “too tough”.  Pauline had heard of Elope to the Coast via a lady she worked with and googled them.  She looked at the packages and thought “this is it, this  is our answer!”

Pauline made contact with Elope to the Coast who sent her out an information package with a DVD showing her of previous weddings.  Wayne decided that the “Dreams are Perfect” wedding package was what they wanted.

They flew to the Gold Coast Airport where they were picked up by a stretch limousine and taken to their accommodation at Regency on the Beach.  Wow, a room right on the beach – couldn’t get much better than this!!

Their celebrant met them at their accommodation when they arrived and they went over their wedding details.  They then had a massage therapist come to them, in room, where they were each treated to a half hour massage – what a great way to start their 5 night holiday!

On her wedding day, Pauline had her hair and make-up professionally done, got dressed and met Wayne on the beach for their beach wedding.

Within half an hour they were husband and wife!!  They received a champagne toast afterwards and a beautifully decorated wedding cake that they could enjoy over their stay.

They had an excellent honeymoon, ate and drank themselves silly, went to the beach in front of their resort for swims and walks along the beach, it was just “magic”.

When they arrived back home, they had their family and friends over for a BBQ, and showed them their wedding video and photos!!  To them, it was the best “carefree” wedding they could have experienced.

Congratulations to Pauline and Wayne, Elope to the Coast wishes you a fabulous life together.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR WEDDING BUDGET

Where does the money go?

The average Australian couple spends over $30,000 on their wedding, but how does it add up so fast?

Let’s break our couples up into three categories:

a) The Spendthrifty – those who like to spend

b) The Prettythrifty – those who are have more cost-effective ways to say “I do”

c) The Beyond Thrifty – could say they are “really smart” or just “plain tight” with their money

VENUE – Spendthrifty rents a church or venue for a rate from $500 to to $2000, Prettythrifty has an outdoor ceremonmy to save on rental fees, tents are less expensive and don’t need much decorating, and Beyond Thrifty chooses the wedding “off season” and negotiates a better price for the venue.

GUEST LIST – Spendthrifty invites everyone they know, Prettythrifty invites the people they love the most, immediate family and closest  friends.  Small weddings are less stressful and more intimate, and Beyond Thrifty prints their own invitations and puts the details online.

DRESS – Spendthrifty spends thousands of dollars on a wedding dress, Prettythrifty brings a picture and has a dress made custom by a seamstress or buys the floor sample from a store on discount, and Beyond Thrifty wears flowers instead of buying a veil – you’ll only wear it once, anyway!!

CEREMONY – Spendthrity books a full fledged band for the ceremony, Prettythrifty asks a talented friend to play at the ceremony in return for exposure and a free meal, and Beyond Thrifty rents a karaoke machine and a couple of microphones.

Which one are you?

Endless Love

What a great photo!! One of our January weddings were Steve, Mel and their 3 beautiful children, Tyler, Alicia and Rylie.

Mel’s older brother went to school with Steve.  Steve was 16 and Mel was only 10 at the time. Their families became very close friends. It was many years later when Steve returned to Melbourne from living in far North Queensland to find a little girl who had grown into a beautiful young woman. There was an instant spark. Due to their age difference Steve chose to ignore his feelings for Mel.

Many, many years later Steve and Mel were on the same sporting team. After some time it became apparent that Mel also had the same feelings, this was after a gentle kiss hello. They then became good friends and Steve realised those initial feelings he had all those years ago had never gone away.  Steve’s hidden love for Mel had always been there. Sometime afterwards they started seeing each other. Mel was 23 and Steve was 29.

Steve proposed to Mel 4 years ago, after being together 12 years.  He got up early for work as he always did, except he was not going to work that day. Dressing in a suit, Steve spread the petals of a dozen roses he had bought the night before. All that was left was to wait for Mel to wake. Mel entered the room and Steve got down on one knee to propose. By the look on her face she had all but given up on the idea that Steve would propose to her.  Yes, she was surprised, but stunned at the same time.

Our couple came from Victoria to marry on a beautiful Gold Coast beach!

Best part of the day from Steve’s point of view: Seeing my lovely wife for the first time in her wedding dress.

Steve said “I would like to thank Elope to the Coast. Without their help this day would not have been possible.  We would recommend them to anyone considering marrying on the Coast. Nothing was too much trouble and their bubbly personalities made us feel like we had family celebrating the day with us. A simple thank you to you all is not enough for the memories of the day you helped us create, it was unforgettable.”

They were a wonderful family.  Steve liaised with Elope to the Coast for a few months before the wedding, Mel had no idea what plans he had made.  The day turned out to be a great success with one happy family leaving the beach.  Best wishes always to Steve, Mel and children.

Bus has just the ticket to help out stuck newlyweds

Passengers on the Surfside bus heading from Main Beach to Sea World on Friday must have thought they were in a remake of The Graduate.

Hailing the bus were a bride and groom who purchased two tickets and then settled down for the short ride to Sheraton Mirage Resort.

It wasn’t a movie but the tail end of the wedding of a gold coast restaurateur.

After marrying at the Sheraton, the wedding party headed to Chill for the reception and it was then that the happy couple realised they had forgotten to organise transport back to the bridal suite at the Sheraton.

All hail the big yellow bus.  Great fun and the passengers loved it.

Moral of the story:  Elope to the Coast will cover all bases.  Our experience with thousands of weddings is we think of everything – even the transport!!  Even if our couples don’t choose our advice, we still offer it.
